Description

Welcome to the volunteer sign-up site for Mitzvah Day 2017! This day of volunteerism will bring together several hundred individuals from around metro Detroit to perform meaningful acts of community service on Monday, December 25th.

Please sign up for a volunteer project by selecting a "ticket" above for your preferred project. There are many different projects happening throughout the day, so please see the information by clicking on the gear icon for timing and a brief description of each project. A brief description and age restrictions for each site are below. Please note that some sites are a partnership between the Jewish and Muslim communities and will have both Jewish and Muslim volunteers. They are marked with [Interfaith] before the site name.

Note: All volunteers under age 18 must have adult supervision.

Suitable for families:

Advantage Living Center, a nursing home. Volunteers will play bingo and visit with residents. All ages with supervision.

Bookstock, book sorting at the JCC. ages 10+

Bridging Communities, Inc. - meals-on-wheels delivery - all ages

Brilliant Detroit - early childhood programmingcare, all ages welcome, under 14 need adult supervision.

Canterbury-on-the-Lake, assisted living and skilled nursing center. All ages with adult supervision.

Cass Community Social Services, soup kitchen, ages 10+

Detroit Animal Welfare, animal shelter. ages 14+

Detroit Area Agency on Aging, meal delivery, all ages

Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, soup kitchen, ages 12+ with chaperone

Fleischman Residence, assisted living, ages 6+

Friendship Circle, assist programs for special needs individuals, ages 13+

JARC, homes for individuals with developmental disabilities, all ages

Jimmy's Kids, toy delivery, all ages

Mariner's Inn, substance abuse recovery, ages 10+

Meer Apartments, independent living for seniors, all ages with adult supervision

Park at Trowbridge, independent and assisted living, all ages

Salvation Army Harbor Light, Bed and Bread Truck, drive on truck through designated route distributing meals, ages 14+

St. Joseph Healthcare Center - long-term care nursing facility, ages 5+

Trinity Lutheran Church, serving meals, visiting with guests, ages 8+

Western Oakland Meals on Wheels, meals on wheels delivery, all ages
